Dr. Yushim Kim is an Associate Professor at the School of Public Affairs (SPA) and affiliated with the Watts College of Public Service & Community Solutions, the Center on Technology, Data and Society, and the Global Futures Scientists and Scholars at Arizona State University (ASU). Her interdisciplinary research integrates public policy, environmental justice, and computational social science to address complex urban and environmental challenges.
- Education: Ph.D. in Public Policy and Management from The Ohio State University (2006)
Kim’s work employs agent-based modeling, spatial analysis, and complex network analysis to study environmental justice, green gentrification, and public health emergencies. Her recent projects include "Generative AI for Sustainable Environmental Planning" and a multi-year collaboration on brownfield cleanup and urban park equity. She has received significant funding, including a $30,000 seed grant (2018) and a ten-million-dollar Korea National Science Foundation grant (2018) for emergency response network research.
