Jun-Hyun Kim, Ph.D., is the School Director and Professor at the School of Planning, Design and Construction (SPDC) at Michigan State University. He holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University, with prior roles at TAMU and Cal Poly. Previously, he led the Landscape Architecture and Master of Environmental Design programs at MSU.
His research focuses on environmental impacts on human/ecological health and community resilience, securing multi-million grants from organizations like the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and presented over 100 refereed papers.
Dr. Kim has received eight CELA awards over his career, including the 2023 MSU CANR Excellence in Teaching Award. He was elected CELA President in 2023 and serves as an editor for Landscape and Ecological Engineering. As an educator, he integrated over 30 service-learning projects into coursework and mentored award-winning student teams.
