Hyung Jin Kim is an Associate Professor in the Department of Landscape Architecture and Regional & Community Planning at Kansas State University’s College of Architecture, Planning and Design. He is also an affiliated faculty member of the Kansas City Design Center (KCDC) and actively contributes to interdisciplinary research on the built environment.
His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Urban and Regional Science from Texas A&M University, a Master of Landscape Architecture (MLA) from Seoul National University, and a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) from Hongik University, South Korea.
Kim’s research centers on the integration of environmental design, social contexts, and human behavior across diverse communities. His work emphasizes disaster resilience through augmented social-spatial-digital networks and health-promoting community design. He explores how urban and rural environments can be planned to enhance public health, equity, and resilience.
