He is based at the Plant Research Centre on the Waite Campus. His research focuses on plant stress biology, particularly ion transport mechanisms and salinity tolerance in crops like soybean. He holds a PhD (2017) and Master’s degree (MBiotech) from the University of Adelaide, along with an undergraduate degree (BBiotech) from the University of Newcastle.
Dr. Qu’s work centers on understanding and enhancing crop resilience to environmental stresses, with a focus on the GmSALT3 gene and its role in Na+ and Cl− exclusion. He has received notable awards, including the 2013 Faculty of Sciences Outstanding Academic Achievement Award and the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics Prize. As a co-supervisor, he supports students in Masters and PhD programs. His research contributes to advancing agricultural biotechnology and sustainable crop improvement strategies.
