معرفی
Dr. Nicholas Collins is an ARC Grant-Funded Researcher B and Visiting Research Fellow at the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine, University of Adelaide. His research focuses on genetics and physiology of heat tolerance in wheat, particularly during reproductive stages, as well as cereal resistance to abiotic stresses (frost, salinity, boron toxicity) and viral/fungal diseases. He leads a research group using molecular marker analysis and field trials to develop breeding tools for heat-tolerant wheat varieties. Collaborations with NSW-DPI explore heat impacts on end-use quality traits.
His career includes postdoctoral work at CSIRO and the Sainsbury Laboratory (UK), specializing in positional cloning of stress-resistance genes. Research combines growth chamber experiments, 'omics approaches, and physiological studies to uncover heat tolerance mechanisms. Based at the Plant Research Centre, Waite, he actively contributes to advancing crop resilience strategies.
