معرفی
Associate Professor Stuart Roy is affiliated with the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine at the University of Adelaide, within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He holds roles as Associate Head of School (External Engagement and Outreach) and Deputy Director (Industry) for the ARC Industrial Transformation Training Centre for Accelerated Future Crop Development. Previously, he directed the ARC Industrial Transformation Research Hub for Wheat in a Hot and Dry Environment.
He earned a BSc (Hons) in Plant and Environmental Biology from the University of St Andrews (UK) and a PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of Cambridge (UK), followed by a Broodbank Research Fellowship at Cambridge. His research focuses on improving cereal crop abiotic stress tolerance, particularly salinity tolerance and yield enhancement. His group investigates shoot-dependent and shoot-independent ionic stress mechanisms using genetics approaches.
Key grants include projects funded by the Australian Research Council, Grains Research and Development Corporation, and USAID, addressing crop resilience in saline soils and climate challenges. He teaches courses such as Plant Genetics and Genomics and Innovations in Plant Biotechnology.
His lab continues the Salinity Research program initiated at the Australian Centre for Plant Functional Genomics, aiming to identify genes and processes critical for crop survival in stressed environments.
