Yasuhiro Makimura is an Associate Professor of East Asian History at Iona University. He holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University (2002), an M.Litt. from Cambridge University, and a B.A. from Harvard University. His research focuses on urban economic history and 19th-century diplomatic history in East Asia.
