Lina Nie is an Assistant Professor of History at Texas A&M University. Her work focuses on premodern China, Japan, the Mongol Empire, and maritime East Asia, emphasizing transregional and comparative approaches to diplomacy, empires, and international relations. She teaches courses on world history, nomadic cultures, and East Asian diplomatic interactions.

Research Interests: Dr. Nie explores how premodern East Asian states and empires constructed diplomatic narratives across linguistic and geographic boundaries. Her current book project examines 11th-15th century diplomatic exchanges among China, Japan, Korea, and the Mongols, challenging national historiography frameworks. She employs multilingual sources to analyze concepts like nation-states, ethnicity, and international order through a transregional lens.
