Steven J. Ericson is an Associate Professor of History at Dartmouth College, specializing in Japan's modern economic and political transformation. His research focuses on government financial policies and industrial development during the Meiji and Taisho eras, with particular attention to the Matsukata Reform and post-WWII U.S. occupation policies.

His work explores the intersection of political economy, state-building, and business history in Japan. Current projects include a study of trust-busting during the U.S. occupation of Japan. He teaches courses on modern Japanese history, imperialism in East Asia, and postwar Japan's economic rise.
Recent publications include Financial Stabilization in Meiji Japan (2020) and articles on Meiji financial policies and zaibatsu dissolution. His research bridges economic history with institutional analysis, emphasizing Japan's global economic integration.
