Dr. Xiao-Xin Sun is a Researcher at the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU), working in Mushui's lab. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms underlying p53-MDM2 pathway regulation, ribosomal stress responses, and the role of deubiquitinating enzymes like USP36 in cancer biology. She holds a PhD from OHSU and conducted postdoctoral research at Indiana University School of Medicine's Riley Heart Research Center, investigating PRL family proteins in disease models.
Research Interests: Molecular oncology, ribosome biogenesis, ubiquitin-mediated protein regulation, and translational control of gene expression. Her work bridges basic cell biology with translational cancer research, emphasizing protein stability and RNA processing mechanisms.
Key Achievements: Received the Cancer Biology Training Program Postdoctoral Fellowship. Her lab explores how ribosomal stress and SUMOylation/deSUMOylation pathways modulate tumor suppressor functions and oncogenic processes. Recent work highlights artificial cell therapies for liver failure and the role of USP36 in miRNA biogenesis.
Labs/Teams: Active member of Mushui's lab at OHSU, collaborating on projects related to ribosomal stress and cancer metabolism. Contributions span mouse models, biochemical assays, and clinical translation of mechanistic findings.
