معرفی
Moshe Oren is a Professor at the Department of Molecular Cell Biology, Weizmann Institute of Science, Israel, and former Dean of the Faculty of Biology (1999–2003). His research focuses on cancer molecular biology, tumor suppressors like p53, apoptosis mechanisms, and ubiquitin pathways. He has held leadership roles including Chairperson of the Council of Professors at Weizmann (1996–1997) and serves on editorial boards of journals such as Molecular Cell and EMBO Journal.
Education:
- MSc in Microbiology, Tel Aviv University (1970)
- PhD in Molecular Virology, Weizmann Institute (1973–1976)
- Postdoctoral Fellowships at Princeton University (1978–1979) and SUNY Stony Brook (1979–1981)
Research Interests: Oren’s work spans tumor suppressor pathways, p53-Mdm2 interactions, and the molecular mechanisms of cancer progression. He investigates how tumor-stroma interactions influence metastasis and explores ubiquitin-mediated protein regulation in oncogenesis.
Awards and Recognition:
- Israel Prize (2008) – highest scientific honor in Israel
- EMET Prize (2003) – awarded for exceptional contributions to science
- NIH MERIT Award (2003) – sustained NIH support for outstanding scientists
- Elected to multiple academies: Israel National Academy (2006), American Academy of Arts and Sciences (2007), and European Cancer Academy (2009)
Advising/Grants: As a senior scientist and professor, Oren has mentored numerous researchers, though specific student names are not listed. His work has been supported by grants such as the NIH MERIT Award and the Lombroso Award for Cancer Research (2002).
