Yuqi Wang is a Professor of Biology at Saint Louis University's College of Arts and Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. from Creighton University. His research focuses on G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) signaling mechanisms, particularly the role of ubiquitination and deubiquitination in regulating these pathways using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae as a model system. Key projects include studying Ubp3's regulation of protein kinase C (PKC) and the molecular basis of GPCR signaling modulation. His work has implications for developing novel therapeutics targeting cancer and fungal infections.
Education: Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from Creighton University.
Research interests span molecular biology, cellular signaling, ubiquitination, and their roles in diseases like hypertension and cancer. He uses yeast to study conserved signaling pathways, with recent breakthroughs in understanding stimulus-dependent ubiquitination of G proteins and MAP kinases. His lab also explores deubiquitinating enzymes' roles in PKC regulation across species.
Publications highlight contributions to understanding extracellular vesicle-mediated immune suppression, GPCR signaling dynamics, and stress response mechanisms. Over 15 peer-reviewed articles since 2002 reflect his expertise in signal transduction and enzymatic regulation.
Advising: Mentored numerous graduate and undergraduate students at SLU, including first authors of multiple high-impact studies. No awards explicitly listed, though contributions suggest potential recognition.
Labs/Teams: Leads a dedicated research group in the Biology Department, focusing on yeast as a model organism for uncovering fundamental signaling principles and translational applications.
