Christine Eischen is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology, & Cancer Biology at the College of Life Sciences, Thomas Jefferson University, and serves as Special Advisor to the President at Thomas Jefferson University Hospitals.
Research Focus: The Eischen laboratory investigates genetic regulators of cellular transformation through studies on:
- Cell proliferation, apoptosis, chromosomal stability, and DNA repair mechanisms
- B cell lymphoma and carcinomas of lung, breast, and ovary
- Oncogenic pathways (Myc, Mdm2, Ras) and tumor suppressor pathways (Arf, p53)
- Roles of miRNA and lncRNA in tumorigenesis and stress responses
Laboratory Operations: Utilizing genetically engineered mouse models, patient-derived samples, and cell lines with targeted gene modifications, the lab examines vulnerabilities in cancer pathways. Current projects address DNA fork remodeling proteins (Zranb3/Smarcal1), venetoclax resistance in lymphoma, replicative stress in leukemias, and p53-effector lncRNAs across cellular stresses.
