Xi (Helen) Chen is a Research Fellow at the Leverhulme Centre for Climate Change Mitigation, affiliated with the School of Ocean and Earth Science at the University of Southampton. She holds a PhD from University College London and an MSc from Imperial College London.

Her research focuses on geochemical proxies, particularly strontium (Sr) and lithium (Li) isotopes, to study weathering processes and their interactions with tectonics and biological evolution in the Precambrian era. Current work involves enhanced rock weathering for carbon dioxide removal and geochemical analysis of weathering products.
She collaborates with Prof Rachael James on quantifying weathering efficiency and sustainability impacts, contributing to Earth system science modeling and applied weathering research.
