معرفی
Philip Pogge von Strandmann is a University Professor of Sediment Geochemistry at the Institute of Geosciences, Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz. His expertise spans biogeochemical cycles, weathering processes, and novel isotopic tracers. He holds a PhD in Environmental Isotope Geochemistry from The Open University (2006) and an MESc in Earth Sciences from the University of Oxford (2003-2006). His research focuses on lithium isotopes as tracers for Earth surface processes, linking geochemical data to climate change mechanisms. He has led projects on continental weathering dynamics during ancient climate events like the PETM, and pioneered studies on plant-mediated weathering feedbacks. Previous roles include Reader in Isotope Geochemistry at University College London (2017-2020) and NERC Advanced Research Fellowships (2011-2014). His work bridges experimental geochemistry, field studies, and Earth system modeling to address global carbon cycle questions.
- Research Themes: Enhanced Weathering, Paleoweathering, Geoengineering
- Instrumental Expertise: Lithium/Magnesium Isotope Analysis
- Fieldwork Focus: Icelandic soils, Pyrenean sediments, Tibetan Plateau rivers
Recent studies include lithium isotope records of Devonian afforestation impacts on global weathering regimes, and the role of clay formation in sustaining past climatic optima. He collaborates internationally on isotopic methodologies for climate proxies and geochemical carbon removal assessment.
