Wren Saunders is an Artist Faculty in Bassoon at the Osher School of Music within the University of Southern Maine's College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. She holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Southern Maine and a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music. Her teaching extends to Gordon College and the Portland Conservatory of Music, where she mentors students excelling in bassoon performance.
Ms. Saunders is an active orchestral musician, serving as principal bassoonist with the Bangor Symphony and a member of the Orchestra of Indian Hill, Portland Symphony Orchestra, and others. She has performed as a concerto soloist and contributed to recordings such as Mark O’Connor’s Americana Symphony with the Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra.
Her bassoon studio produces students accepted into Maine All-State festivals, USM Youth Ensembles, and New England Conservatory’s Youth Orchestras. Saunders combines academic teaching with freelance performance, emphasizing classical and orchestral traditions in her work.
