William Shankley is a researcher in the Department of Law and Social Justice at the University of Liverpool, focusing on asylum seekers, ethnic diversity, and migrant experiences. He holds a PhD in Sociology from The University of Manchester (2018) and an MA in Humanitarianism and Conflict Response (2011).

Awards include the SoSS Lewis Prize for Social Responsibility (2019) and UK Data Service Impact Fellowship (2016). He collaborates with institutions like the Cathie Marsh Institute and the Centre on Dynamics of Ethnicity (CoDE), co-editing the book *State of the Nation* (2020).
