Rubina Jasani is a Lecturer in Humanitarian & Conflict Response at the Humanitarian Conflict Response Institute, University of Manchester. Her research focuses on post-conflict reconstruction, gender studies, mental health, and human rights. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the University of Sussex and has conducted post-doctoral work at the University of Warwick on mental health disparities among ethnic minorities.
Her key contributions include collaborative projects like the No-Recourse initiative with Women Asylum Seekers Together (WAST), exploring peer-ethnography in medical education. She currently co-leads a British Academy-funded study on Islamic Healing Practices in Manchester and serves on the Board of Trustees for Safety4Sisters, aiding migrant women survivors of domestic violence.
Research interests span India’s ethnic conflicts, masculinity post-violence, and the intersection of culture and mental health. Her work addresses communal riots’ impacts, stigma in psychosis care, and refugee integration strategies. She has supervised 9 academic works and received the 2019 Making a Difference Award for community-engaged research.
