Dr. Will Petersen is an Associate Professor of Music and Director of Bands at the University of South Alabama. He oversees the university's band program, conducting the USA Wind Ensemble and the nationally recognized Jaguar Marching Band. Additionally, he teaches applied tuba and euphonium, coaches brass chamber ensembles, and instructs graduate courses in music education and conducting.

Dr. Petersen's research and professional focus centers on Bands, Music Education, Tuba & Euphonium performance, and Conducting techniques. He has performed extensively as a tubist across the Gulf Coast, including with the Northwest Florida Symphony and Mobile Symphony in 2015.
Scientific awards include:
- Virginia Tech 'Music Professor of the Year' (2007) by the Gamma Mu chapter of Delta Omicron
- Honored as a 'Favorite Faculty Member' by Virginia Tech's Department of Residence Life
Dr. Petersen is also active in professional organizations such as the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA), National Band Association (NBA), and International Tuba and Euphonium Association (ITEA). He has served on the faculty of the Indiana University Summer Music Clinic since 2006.
