Christian Carichner is the Associate Director of Bands, Director of the Cyclone Marching Band, and Associate Teaching Professor at Iowa State University. He oversees the Athletic Band program, including the 350-member Cyclone Football Marching Band, and conducts the Symphonic Band. He teaches Marching Band Methods and instructs the Tuba and Euphonium studios. Under his leadership, the Cyclone Marching Band earned the prestigious Sudler Trophy, the highest honor for U.S. collegiate marching bands.

His research interests focus on brass pedagogy, ensemble performance, and marching band techniques. He has performed/taught in 47 U.S. states and 12 countries, serving as a clinician for organizations like The Midwest Clinic and CBDNA. He is an active performer with orchestras and brass ensembles, including Pinnacle Brass and Proteus 7.
Carichner is an honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma, and a member of CBDNA, Pi Kappa Lambda, and the International Tuba Euphonium Association. As a Pearl/Adams artist, he consults on marching brass instrument design.
