Will May is a Professor in Modern & Contemporary Literature at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Southampton Institute for Arts and Humanities (SIAH) and the Centre for Modern and Contemporary Writing (CMCW). He holds a PhD from Balliol College, Oxford, and has held roles including Head of English (2017-2019). His research focuses on mentoring in poetry, literary communities, and creative culture’s role in regional recovery, supported by AHRC and Leverhulme grants. Notable projects include the Invisible Mentors initiative and the F.T. Prince Memorial Lecture.
