Joseph Turner is a DPhil Candidate in English Literature at Christ Church, University of Oxford, and a Stipendiary Lecturer at Keble College. His doctoral research examines the concept of 'ease' in English poetry from Waller to Byron, funded by an AHRC OOC-DTP studentship. He holds a BA from St Anne's College, Oxford, and an MPhil in Eighteenth-Century and Romantic Literature from Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge.
His research interests span Restoration, 18th-century, and Romantic literature, focusing on poetry, stylistics, comedy, satire, close reading, and literary criticism's historiography. He has taught at Keble and Balliol Colleges, covering Prelims 1b and FHS 5 modules.
Turner’s recent publications include articles on Charles Churchill, William Cowper, and Thomas Love Peacock, alongside entries in The Year's Work in English Studies. He has presented conference papers on topics like Hester Lynch Piozzi’s British Synonymy, Samuel Johnson’s aesthetics, and Alexander Pope’s satirical strategies.
