Wendy Regoeczi

Wendy Regoeczi is a Professor and Department Chair in the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at the University of South Carolina's College of Arts and Sciences. With over two decades of research focused on homicide and violent crime, she has served as editor of Homicide Studies and on the Research Advisory Council of the International Association of Chiefs of Police. Her work spans victimization, intimate partner violence, criminal investigations, and violence prevention.

Regoeczi's research examines the structural and situational factors underlying violent crime, with funding from the National Institute of Justice and National Science Foundation. Her recent projects include evaluating the Domestic Violence Homicide Prevention Demonstration Initiative and collaborating with the Ohio Victim Witness Association to develop best practices for supporting homicide victim families. She co-authored Rethinking Homicide: Exploring the Structure and Process Underlying Deadly Situations (Cambridge University Press).

Recent publications analyze DNA evidence in homicide investigations, contextual factors in homicide clearances, policy impacts on pregnancy-associated homicides, and multidisciplinary teamwork at Children's Advocacy Centers. Her methodological work advances scoping review techniques for criminological research.
