Dr. Wendy Barber is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education and Adjunct Professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Ontario Tech University. She directs the PHEWISE Research Lab and focuses on resilience, teacher development, health & physical education, and online learning communities. Her work integrates mindfulness, flow, and play into educational practices, emphasizing inclusive pedagogy and digital innovation.
Education & Professional Background: Holds a PhD in Education. Certified by the Ontario College of Teachers and British Columbia Teacher Regulation. Active in professional organizations like PHE Canada and the R. Tait McKenzie Society.
Research Interests: Resilience/grit in educators and students, inclusive physical education, digital technology in teaching, and transformative online learning environments. Creative methodologies include 'critical play' and mindfulness-based approaches.
Awards: 2014 Ontario Tech Teaching Award of Excellence. Recognized for innovative contributions to pedagogy and online community-building.
