Weiwen Lai is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Sociology, Stockholm University, affiliated with the Stockholm University Demography Unit (SUDA). His research focuses on family demography, migration dynamics, and gender studies, particularly in East Asian contexts. He holds a PhD in Sociological Demography from Stockholm University, a Master's in Gender Studies and Sociology from the Chinese University of Hong Kong (2018), and a Bachelor's in Sociology from China (2015).
Research interests include cohabitation patterns, labor migration, and the interplay between migration and family structures. He employs quantitative methods and has published on topics such as gender disparities in rural labor migration and fertility intentions in Sweden. Lai is also involved in SUDA's initiatives, including Master’s and PhD programs in demography.
