Dr. Wanda M. Brooks is a Professor in the College of Education and Human Development at Temple University, specializing in Teaching and Learning. She teaches in the middle/secondary teacher certification program, Temple Teacher Residency, and the doctoral program in education (literacy and learners concentration). Her courses focus on literacy theories, qualitative research methods, and multicultural education. Previously, she taught middle grades language arts in east coast public schools.
Her research examines African American adolescents' responses to diverse children’s/young adult literature and analyzes African diaspora literature for youth. Key areas include literary understanding development, cultural representation in texts, and critical content analysis of anti-Black violence narratives. She has published in journals like Reading Research Quarterly and Research in the Teaching of English.
