Susan Browne, Ed.D., is an Associate Professor in the Department of Language, Literacy, and Sociocultural Education at Rowan University’s College of Education. She specializes in Critical Literacy, Technology, and Multilingual Education, focusing on multicultural literature, reader response theory, and urban education reform. Dr. Browne holds a doctorate in Reading, Writing, and Literacy from the University of Pennsylvania. She teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education and advises Masters students in the reading program. Her work emphasizes culturally relevant pedagogy, anti-racist practices, and equitable access in education.
Research areas include multicultural literature for children and adolescents, community-based literacy initiatives, and the intersection of race, identity, and educational policy. Recent publications explore African American visual narratives, social justice in teacher education, and culturally responsive teaching strategies in urban settings.
