Dr Volha Arkhipenka is an academic faculty member at the Department of Education, University of York, where she teaches modules in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) and Applied Linguistics. She supervises both master's and undergraduate dissertation projects.

Her research focuses on language teacher development, intersecting with areas such as the psychology of language learning (motivation, identity), language education policy, multilingualism, and critical approaches to English Medium Instruction (EMI). She employs qualitative methodologies, particularly narrative inquiry.
Dr Arkhipenka collaborates on projects like the British Council-funded initiative exploring emancipatory pedagogy in EMI training. She is affiliated with the Centre for Advanced Studies in Language and Education (CASLE).
