Vlanka Catalan

Vlanka Catalan is a Lecturer at the University of Southern California (USC) School of Architecture, where she currently teaches the 500AL Comprehensive Architectural Design course. She is also the founder and principal of VERB/, a Los Angeles-based creative practice integrating architecture, art, graphics, and media. Previously, she taught at the University of Washington and worked as a Project Architect on diverse projects including residential, commercial, and institutional buildings in the U.S. and internationally.

• Research Focus: 'Constructing Media' examines architecture as a media construct, resulting in exhibitions in Seattle and San Diego.
• Awards: Includes AIA recognition, Nisshin Kogyo Award, and ACSA Design-Build Award.

Before academia, Catalan served in the United States Army. Her professional portfolio spans architectural installations and large-scale projects, emphasizing both pragmatism and experiential design.
