Vladislav Ruchkin, MD, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Child Psychiatry at Uppsala University, Sweden, and a forensic psychiatrist at the Forensic Psychiatric Clinic Sater, Sweden. He holds an adjunct faculty position at Yale School of Medicine’s Child Study Center (CSC), where he has been affiliated since 2003. His research focuses on child and adolescent mental health, trauma, and behavioral disorders, with a particular emphasis on epidemiological studies and cross-cultural comparisons.
Education: Ruchkin earned his MD from Arkhangelsk State Medical Institute (1993) and a PhD in psychiatric epidemiology from Umeå University (1998). He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Yale University’s Child Study Center (2003) as a Fulbright scholar. His clinical training includes residencies in psychiatry and forensic psychiatry in Sweden.
Research Interests: His work spans attention deficit disorders, trauma-related stress, eating disorders, and the impact of violence on youth. He has led studies on mental health disparities in post-Soviet countries and the role of community violence in adolescent development. Notable collaborations include research with Yale faculty and international teams in Belgium, Russia, and the U.S.
