Dr. Stefanie Gillson is a Research Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine, affiliated with the National Clinician Scholars Program and Yale Child Study Center. She holds an MD from the University of Minnesota (2017) and BS (2013). Her work focuses on Indigenous health, mental health disparities, historical trauma, and public psychiatry. Notable contributions include studies on alcohol use in Indigenous communities, language revitalization’s health impacts, and mental health challenges among Indigenous youth. She has presented at conferences like the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Boston College Diversity Challenge. Awards include the Muerher Research Award (2024) and Melvin Lewis Teaching Award (2023). Gillson co-founded the Women’s Mental Health Conference at Yale and chairs the Committee on Indigenous Human Rights in Mental Health.
