Vinod Venkatraman is an Associate Professor of Marketing and Washburn Research Fellow at Temple University's Fox School of Business, with a secondary affiliation in the Department of Psychology. He earned his PhD in Psychology and Neuroscience from Duke University in 2011 and has since focused on decision neuroscience, investigating how context, state, and individual traits influence consumer and policy-related decisions using behavioral, neuroimaging, and neurophysiological methods.
His research bridges academia and industry, with funded projects from grants and collaborations. Notably, he received the 2016 Early Career Award from the Society of Neuroeconomics. He directs the Center for Applied Research in Decision Making and is pursuing a sabbatical at IPSOS to enhance academic-industry research applications.
Research interests span consumer financial decisions, public policy, and marketing communications. Recent work explores media consumption patterns, metaphor effects on memory, and adolescent decision-making. His publications appear in top journals like Journal of Neuroscience, Neuron, and Journal of Marketing Research, with media coverage in BBC, Forbes, and NPR.
Teaching includes Marketing Research, Directed Study, and graduate research courses. He emphasizes translating lab findings to real-world contexts, with a focus on neurophysiological measures and strategic decision frameworks.
