Dr. Victoria Chraibi is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Tarleton State University. Her research focuses on freshwater ecology, particularly the paleoecology of diatoms and lake sediment records of ecosystem responses to human activities, climate shifts, and food web dynamics. She teaches courses in biology, marine biology, ecology, and limnology.
Education: PhD in Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (University of Nebraska, 2016); MS in Water Resources Science (University of Minnesota, 2013).
Research emphasizes using diatom fossils to reconstruct historical environmental conditions, informing contemporary water resource management. Key projects include studies on Lake Superior’s ecological changes and hydrological trends in Texas river basins. Dr. Chraibi also explores game-based approaches to education and water governance. Her lab supports undergraduate and graduate students in fieldwork, microscopy, and molecular techniques, fostering presentations at national/international conferences.
Collaborative projects include studies on the Colorado River’s biodiversity and the impact of climate warming on Great Lakes diatoms. Her work bridges ecological science with practical conservation strategies for transboundary water systems.
