Vera Caine is a Professor and Director in the School of Nursing at the University of Victoria, holding a CIHR New Investigator award (2014-2019) and serving as Vice Chair of the CIHR HIV/AIDS Research Advisory Committee. Her scholarship centers on narrative inquiry methodologies and community-based participatory research with vulnerable populations.
Dr. Caine's research examines:
- HIV care contexts with Indigenous communities and migrant populations
- Refugee family experiences, particularly children with disabilities
- Relational ethics in longitudinal qualitative research
- Community health initiatives through the Refugee Health Coalition
Her publication patterns emphasize narrative methodologies in global health contexts, refugee integration challenges, and ethical dimensions of care. Recent work explores harm reduction policy, Indigenous health paradigms, and interprofessional care models.
Dr. Caine contributes to national research networks including the FEAST Centre for Indigenous STBBI Research and Waniska Centre focusing on HIV/HCV in Prairie communities.
