Valerie Bracchi-Ricard is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Biology at Drexel University. Her research investigates neuroinflammation mechanisms following spinal cord injury, focusing on TNF signaling pathways and their roles in demyelination, neuroprotection, and immune dysfunction.
She examines the differential effects of soluble TNF (pro-inflammatory) versus transmembrane TNF (neuroprotective) signaling, particularly through TNFR1 and TNFR2 receptors. Her work demonstrates how modulating these pathways can promote remyelination and improve functional recovery. Recent studies also explore peripheral consequences of spinal cord injury on immune function and metabolism.
Publications highlight therapeutic strategies using TNFR2 agonists to enhance recovery, sex-specific effects in multiple sclerosis models, and mechanisms of immune suppression after neurotrauma.
