Valentin Martchev is a Studio Artist Teacher in Bassoon at San Diego State University's Music department. He serves as the tenured principal bassoonist for the San Diego Symphony and has performed with orchestras internationally, including the Shira International Symphony Orchestra and the Bulgarian Radio State Orchestra. He participated in festivals such as Aspen, Tanglewood, and Marlboro.
