Ute Dercks

Dr. Ute Dercks is the Deputy Head of the Photo Library at the Max Planck Institute for Art History in Florence (Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz). She has worked at the Photo Library since October 2004, contributing to its role as a leading archive of documentary photography on Italian art and architecture.

• PhD in Art History (Düsseldorf, 2002)
• Specializes in 19th-century Italian photography and visual media technology transfer
• Key projects: CENOBIUM (multimedia Romanesque cloister capitals), historical photo campaigns (1897-1932)

Her research intersects with the institute's focus on transcultural art history, digital humanities, and museum futures. She is a member of the Visual Resources Association.
