Dr. Anette Creutzburg is an Academic Librarian and Researcher at the Library of the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, part of the Max Planck Society. She has been working at the institute since February 2008, and since March 2009 has been responsible for the conservation and scholarly cataloguing of the library's historical holdings.
Dr. Creutzburg earned her academic credentials at Christian-Albrechts University of Kiel and Ca' Foscari University of Venice. Her educational background includes:
- Master's degree in 2002 with thesis on Stuttgart Apocalypse tablets and Naples court art during Robert I of Anjou's time
- Doctoral scholarship from German Research Foundation (DFG) from 2003-2006
- Doctorate in December 2007 with dissertation on 'St. Bridget of Sweden as Reflected in Theological Controversies and Her Earliest Depiction in Italian Illuminated and Panel Painting of the Late Trecento'
Dr. Creutzburg's research spans multiple specialized areas within art history, with particular expertise in medieval and Renaissance Italian art. Her work focuses on the intersection of religious imagery, courtly patronage, and book production during pivotal historical periods. She has developed significant expertise in analyzing visual representations of mystical experiences and their theological contexts.
Dr. Creutzburg has been recognized for her scholarly contributions, most notably receiving the Faculty Prize for the Best Dissertation in 2007. She actively contributes to the RARA Project (Rare Book Project), which examines the historical holdings of the library through codicological analysis, bridging traditional art historical methods with library science.
As a key member of the institute's library staff, Dr. Creutzburg plays an essential role in preserving and making accessible the institute's valuable collections, which support the broader research community studying art history from transcultural and global perspectives.
