Professor Ulrike Eggert is a Professor of Chemical Biology at King's College London, affiliated with the Randall Centre for Cell & Molecular Biophysics, Department of Chemistry, and Faculty of Life Sciences & Medicine. Her research focuses on cytokinesis, lipid biology, and membrane dynamics, employing chemical and cell biology approaches. She leads the Eggert Group, which investigates molecular mechanisms of cell division using innovative probes and imaging techniques.
Her work is supported by grants from the Wellcome Trust and European Research Council. Notable achievements include over 40 peer-reviewed publications and prestigious awards: Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (2016) and Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2016). Her lab is located at the Randall Centre for Cell & Molecular Biophysics, Great Maze Pond, London.
Key research themes include lipid regulation in cell division, membrane protein interactions, and small molecule screening. Collaborations span interdisciplinary teams, addressing questions in mechanobiology and nanotechnology. Recent projects include functional analysis of tyrosine phosphatases and membrane thickness measurement in live cells.
