معرفی
Professor Robert Law is a Professor of Biological Materials in the Department of Chemistry at Imperial College London, within the Faculty of Natural Sciences. His research spans interdisciplinary fields including materials engineering, biochemistry, and condensed matter physics. He holds affiliations with the CDT in Chemical Biology, the Grantham Institute, the Institute of Chemical Biology, the Leverhulme Centre for Cellular Bionics, and the Membrane Biophysics Platform. Law earned his Ph.D. at the University of Strathclyde, followed by a STA-Royal Society Fellowship in Japan at the Tokyo Institute of Technology and National Institute of Materials & Chemicals. His work focuses on solid-state NMR spectroscopy, lipid membrane behavior, and biomimetic systems such as artificial cells.
Key research areas include the structural analysis of lipid membranes using NMR, the development of microfluidic technologies for artificial cell engineering, and the study of membrane interactions with drugs and biomolecules. He has pioneered the use of droplet interface bilayers (DIBs) for biofluidic applications and explored pressure effects on lipid phase behavior. His lab also investigates bioactive glasses and their biomedical applications, including bone cements and dental materials.
- Education:
