Tracy Curry Owens, Ph.D., is a Lecturer in the Department of Psychology at Spelman College since 2016. She earned her Ph.D. and M.A. from the University of Michigan and a B.A. from Hampton University.

Dr. Curry Owens’ research emphasizes psychosocial factors, social determinants of health, and health equity, particularly focusing on African-American women. Her work encompasses reproductive health disparities, community-based participatory research, stress and coping mechanisms in chronic disease, and strategies to address racial disparities in health outcomes through social equity and advocacy.
In teaching, she delivers courses such as General Psychology for Non-majors, Personality Psychology, and Research Methods Lab, prioritizing critical thinking and the application of psychological principles to enhance individual and community well-being.
