Tom Alsip is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Theatre and Dance at the University of New Hampshire. He holds an MFA in Directing from the University of Alabama and a BFA in Musical Theatre from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts. His professional experience includes 10 years in New York City as an actor, director, voiceover artist, and educator, with credits in national tours like Jesus Christ Superstar and The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe. He has directed original works such as the off-Broadway musical Here I Sit Brokenhearted and has taught at institutions including New York University, LeMoyne College, and Oklahoma State University.
- Research Interests: Acting techniques, musical theatre direction, opera performance, and theatre education.
- Affiliations: Member of Actor’s Equity Association, Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, and the Editorial Board of Southern Theatre Magazine.
His publications include multiple articles in Southern Theatre Magazine, and he has received notable awards for service and teaching excellence. Courses taught at UNH include musical theatre history, acting for the stage, and advanced directing.
