Todd Karhu is a Lecturer in Philosophy at the Dickson Poon School of Law, King's College London. He joined the college in 2022 after a postdoctoral fellowship at Stanford University. His academic background includes a PhD in Philosophy from the London School of Economics, an MPhil from the University of Oxford, and a BA from University College Maastricht.
His research focuses on the ethics of harm and compensation in tort law, the ethics and governance of emerging technologies, and the philosophical foundations of killing and personhood. He teaches Jurisprudence and Legal Theory, blending interdisciplinary perspectives from law, ethics, and technology.
Recent publications explore topics such as autonomous systems' moral agency, temporal bias in ethics, and proportionality in legal liability. He has actively contributed to academic discourse through events like the KJuris Programme and Lecture Series in Practical Agency at the YTL Centre for Social and Political Theory.
