Nikhil Venkatesh is the Yeoh Tiong Lay Early Career Fellow at The Dickson Poon School of Law, King’s College London, and a Leverhulme Early Career Fellow at the University of Sheffield. He also affiliates with the YTL Centre for Politics, Philosophy & Law. His research bridges utilitarianism and socialism to address contemporary ethical challenges, with a focus on AI ethics, Marxism, effective altruism, and population ethics.
Education: PhD in Philosophy from University College London (UCL), studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, and Corpus Christi College, Oxford. He co-leads the Research Centre for Data Futures at King’s, exploring ethical implications of data-driven technologies.
Research interests span moral philosophy, political theory, and critical analyses of digital capitalism. His publications critically engage utilitarianism’s applications, structural injustice, and Marxist critiques of surveillance capitalism. He also explores metaethical questions and the philosophy of gender and race.
