Todd A. Jusko, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor in the School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) at the University of Rochester, holding joint appointments in the Departments of Public Health Sciences, Environmental Medicine, and Pediatrics, General Pediatrics. His research focuses on environmental causes of human disease, particularly how chemicals impact immune system development across lifespans, linking immunological outcomes to neurobehavioral and autoimmune conditions. He leads the Rochester Environment and Child Health (REACH) Laboratory, investigating cohorts in Slovakia and the U.S., including the Rochester Lead Study and Generation R Study.
Education: PhD (Epidemiology, University of Washington), MS (Epidemiology, UW), BS (Human Development, Cornell University).
Research interests include environmental chemicals' effects on immunity, asthma, vaccine efficacy, autoimmunity, and neurodevelopment. Notable projects explore PFAS exposure in infants, lead's impact on vaccine response, and sunscreen chemicals' link to autoantibodies.
Key awards: Early Career Travel Grant (2014), NIEHS Paper of the Month (2012), Fulbright Scholar (2007-2009). Over 70 peer-reviewed publications span environmental epidemiology and toxicology.
Lab collaborations emphasize interdisciplinary approaches to environmental health, with ongoing studies on chemical exposure in pregnancy and pediatric cohorts.
