Tobias Kindel is a Researcher and Doctoral Candidate at Philipps-Universität Marburg, affiliated with the Collaborative Research Centre (CRC) 138 'Dynamics of Security'. His primary role since 2022 has been as a Research Associate in Subproject A03 ('Dynastic Marriage'), while concurrently pursuing his PhD on confessional differences in princely marriages during the Early Modern period. He has maintained close ties with the university's History and Protestant Theology departments through his studies (2016–2022) and roles such as Student Assistant in Subproject B03 ('Confessional Minorities as Security Problems').
His academic journey includes a semester abroad at Università degli Studi di Pavia (2020–2021) and professional experience managing archival projects for the Hessian State Office for Historical Regional Studies. Research interests focus on confessionalization processes, regional history in the late medieval and Early Modern eras, and the intersection of dynastic politics with religious identity.
Kindel's publications explore topics ranging from Waldeck's church visitations to biographical studies of Early Modern nobility. He actively contributes to historical databases like 'Dynastische Eheverträge der Frühen Neuzeit (1500–1800)' and collaborates with the Waldeckischer Geschichtsverein. His work bridges institutional religious governance, dynastic diplomacy, and local confessional developments in Central Europe.
