Dr. Tine Hanrieder is an Assistant Professor in Health and International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) since 2020. Formerly, she was the Head of the Research Group 'Global Humanitarian Medicine' at the WZB Berlin Social Science Center (2017–2020) and a Senior Researcher in Global Governance at WZB (2014–2016). Her research focuses on Global Health, International Political Sociology, and North-South Relationships, with a particular emphasis on global health governance, the World Health Organization (WHO), and equity in healthcare systems.
Education includes a PhD in Political Science (summa cum laude) from the University of Bremen (2012), a Master’s in Political Science and Philosophy from the University of Tübingen (2007), and studies at Sciences Po Paris (2004–2005). She has held visiting roles at Northwestern University (2019) and Cermes3 Paris (2016).
Her work critiques neo-colonial dynamics in global health aid, advocates for stronger public health systems, and examines the role of international organizations. Recent publications address community health worker projects, digital health policy, and the political economy of WHO reforms. She co-authored influential analyses on WHO governance and the ethical dimensions of global health equity.
