Dr. Martin Binder is an Associate Professor at the University of Reading and a guest researcher at the WZB unit Global Governance in Berlin. His research focuses on international institutions, humanitarian intervention, the United Nations, and questions of international legitimacy and authority. He holds a PhD from the Free University of Berlin (2009), a Master's from the University of Tübingen (2004), and a Diplôme from Sciences Po Paris (2002).
His research projects include the International Authority Database and Contested World Orders, funded by the Leibniz Association and WZB. He has explored topics such as the politicization of international security institutions, the legitimacy of the UN Security Council, and the selectivity of humanitarian intervention.
