Tine Hanrieder

Dr. Tine Hanrieder is an Associate Professor in the Department of International Development at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). Her work focuses on global health governance, labor migration, and the sociology of professions. She holds a PhD from the University of Bremen and has held academic positions at LMU Munich and the WZB Berlin Social Science Center. She is a recipient of the Volkswagen Foundation's Freigeist Fellowship for interdisciplinary research on South-North learning in global health.

Key research areas include global health systems, international organizations, and the political economy of health workforce dynamics. She has conducted fieldwork in multiple countries, examining topics such as community health workers in the U.S. and nurse recruitment policies in Germany.

Her leadership roles include serving as Doctoral Programme Director at LSE and on the steering committee of the LSE Global Health Initiative. Her recent work critiques liberal health worker extractivism and explores the intersections of health, labor, and social justice.
