Tina Girndt-Clougherty

Tina Girndt-Clougherty is a Visiting Assistant Professor of Business Administration at the Gies College of Business, University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a position she has held since 2011. She also served as a Cross-Cultural Trainer at Thyssenkrupp Presta Danville LLC (2021–2022) and as an Adjunct Lecturer in Global Education and Training at UIUC (2015–2018). Previously, she was a Postdoctoral Fellow at Groningen University (2000–2002) and a Research Fellow at the Institute for Research on Intercultural Cooperation (1995–1996).

Her research focuses on cross-cultural psychology, intercultural communication, and organizational behavior, with a particular emphasis on cultural diversity management and global business strategies. She has published extensively on topics such as intervention strategies for managing diversity, cultural conventions in work groups, and cross-cultural training. Her recent work includes case studies on retail expansion strategies and decision tree analysis for business planning.

She teaches Intl Comparative Management (BADM 586), which explores global business systems and cross-cultural management, and Business in Action (BUS 301), a course applying problem-solving skills to real-world business challenges. Tina has also contributed to professional development through training manuals and presentations on experiential learning and cultural mediation.

Her proactive engagement with industry problems is reflected in case studies like The Next Move in a Menswear Retail Expansion (2025) and Retail Expansion: A Decision Tree Analysis (2024), demonstrating her expertise in strategic planning and cross-cultural business dynamics.
